Well from what I've seen, paintball is more of a hobby, laser tag is more of a quick game to play with friends. You don't go out and buy a "sweet new laser tag gun" and mod the crap out of it. Not from what I've heard anyways. People who play paintball blow hundreds to thousands of dollars buying, upgrading, modifying, and toying around with equipment, as well as buying more ammo. The other thing to realize is that paintball is a much bigger rush. While laser tag is a nice fantasy thing that's fairly easy to work with, such as "You're in a dark room with mist! There's aliens with laser guns! Go go go!" It's kinda ghetto when you get stuck in that situation with little kids standing there, pointing their guns at your chest and firing over and over while they wait for your respawn time to end. PAINTBALL on the other hand, they're scared to even step out from behind the tree. If you get hit with a paintball, you KNOW you got hit, there's not "awww he covered his sensor!" bullshit going on, you fall to the ground and QQ if you're under the age of 13 most likely, so it's pretty nice to be able to weed those folks out. Furthermore, it's much more realistic. Your shots don't aim perfectly, you can't laser snipe from across the map, you can employ actual combat tactics, and it's overall just much more intense. If you like more intense, you'll probably like paintball more. If you like "hey guys, wouldn't this be fun real quick?" you'll probably like laser tag more. Laser tag is a game. Paintball is a sport. That's probably the best way I can put it. |

Personally, I like paintball better because I've done it before and it's real-time action. And you also know exactly when you've been hit and where, as oppose to, and forgive me if I'm wrong, only knowing by a beep that emits when the laser detects a hit. Although on another note, I guess laser tag would be better in the fact of you could go to a community park or something and do it, as opposed to paintball where it's way too messy for that. Overall, I like airsoft/BB guns the best, because they have the modding and customization possibilities of paintball guns, much more affordable than paintball, and also have the ability to be used in residential areas, say, shooting your neighbors like I do. Although you don't want to make a habit of that xD |

Yeah, airsoft's definitely more affordable, but a lot of people dislike it because it doesn't hurt as much as paintball does. Which is kind of idiotic, but that's the macho "Lol my sport's more manly" argument they use these days. |

Yeah, but on that note, I beg to differ. Depending on what gun you use from either sport, airsoft can hurt more or less. For instance, I went paintballing once for a friend's birthday, got hit many times and barely felt it, even when at close range. Either one of the airsoft guns I have would leave quite a sting behind in the same situations. But when we went against the people with the semi-auto suped-up paintball guns, they hurt like hell. So it's a matter of what gun you have really xD Basically, for the price you'd pay on a paintball gun, you could get an airsoft gun that hurt a hell of a lot more, is what I'm trying to say. But if you have the money to go all out with paintball, then that'd hurt more obviously, and leave your mark behind. Edited by Pyrorose, Mar 6 2009, 07:39 PM.

Yeah, CO2 especially can be really fucking painful. My friend started bleeding when he got hit in the neck from pretty far away a couple weeks back. |

Yeah Ouch, that really sucks >.< And that's why I don't like CO2, extremely over-powered for ordinary use, or much of any use in my opinion. |

Yeah, those too lol Especially since in airsofting, or at least the kind of airsofting I do, you don't get the chance to sit down and snipe people. It's constant, in-your-face fighting. |
